St Andrews Old Course Golf Transfers & Chauffeur Tours
The Old Course at St Andrews is the spiritual home of golf, and arriving well is part of the ritual. Its shared fairways, double greens, the Swilcan Bridge on the 18th and the Road Hole bunker on the 17th are recognised worldwide, and tee times remain among the hardest to secure in the sport. Most guests combine the Old with the New, Jubilee, Castle or Kingsbarns during a stay, and the town itself — West Sands, the ruined Cathedral, Hamilton Grand — rewards an unhurried approach.
Golf has been played over these links since the 15th century, and the R&A clubhouse still overlooks the 1st tee. The Open Championship returns here roughly every five years, most recently in 2022, and every era of the game — from Old Tom Morris to Tiger Woods — has walked these fairways. Playing the Old is less a round and more a pilgrimage, and the courtesies at the starter's box, on the Swilcan and at the halfway hut are worth respecting.
Return chauffeur transfers to St Andrews Old Course start from £250 return from Dundee and from £450 return from Edinburgh Airport (EDI), with clubs, luggage and waiting time included.
Drive times: Dundee city centre — 25 min (14 mi); Edinburgh Airport (EDI) — 1 hr 15 min (51 mi); Glasgow Airport (GLA) — 1 hr 45 min (82 mi); Fairmont St Andrews — 8 min (3 mi); Old Course Hotel — 3 min walk (0.2 mi).
Recommended vehicle: Mercedes Vito for fourballs, Rolls-Royce Ghost for VIP pairs. The Vito swallows four sets of clubs, four tour bags and four players in captain's-chair comfort — the sensible default for a group. For a couple, or a corporate host and one guest, the Ghost turns the Fairmont-to-first-tee run into an event in itself.
Suggested 3-course itinerary — East Fife: Day 1 Kingsbarns (a modern links masterpiece 15 minutes east). Day 2 the Old Course with a Jubilee or New warm-up. Day 3 Dumbarnie Links (30 minutes south, Clark & Dodson design, 2020). All three within a short chauffeured hop of the Fairmont or Old Course Hotel — no self-drive, no parking, no post-round logistics.
We stage at the Old Course Hotel or Rusacks entrance for pickups, hold luggage between rounds if you're changing hotels, and can meet arrival flights at Edinburgh or Glasgow with clubs going straight into the boot. The chauffeur waits during the round and handles the club drop at the pro shop on request.
How early should we leave for a morning tee time at the Old Course? Allow 90 minutes from Edinburgh and 2 hours from Glasgow to be settled at the range 40 minutes before your time. Traffic on the M90 north of Edinburgh peaks 07:30–08:30.
Can the chauffeur wait during the round? Yes. Standard for us. The car is available immediately on the 18th green, with water and towels in the boot.
Do you cover the Old Course Experience and ballot bookings? Yes — we work with several concierge and package operators. Send your reference and tee times and we'll build the transfers around them.
