Kingsbarns Golf Transfers & Chauffeur Tours
Kingsbarns, opened in 2000, is proof that a genuine links can be built in the modern era. Kyle Phillips routed the course along a mile and a half of North Sea coastline, and every hole either looks at or plays along the water. It is a mandatory addition to any serious East Fife itinerary and hosts the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship each October alongside the Old Course and Carnoustie.
Golf was played on this land as early as 1793 but the modern course is a Phillips design commissioned by Mark Parsinen. Within a decade of opening it was ranked in the world's top 50. The dunes, the greens perched above the water at the 12th and 15th, and the sheer scale of the site put it in a class with the century-old links.
Return chauffeur transfers to Kingsbarns Golf Links start from £300 return from Dundee and from £500 return from Edinburgh Airport (EDI), with clubs, luggage and waiting time included.
Drive times: St Andrews — 15 min (7 mi); Fairmont St Andrews — 10 min (5 mi); Dundee city centre — 35 min (20 mi); Edinburgh Airport — 1 hr 25 min (58 mi); Carnoustie — 50 min (26 mi).
Recommended vehicle: Mercedes Vito for a fourball. The Fairmont-to-Kingsbarns-to-Old Course triangle is a fourball logistical puzzle solved perfectly by the Vito. Clubs stay in the car between rounds, chauffeur waits, no shuttle wrangling.
Dunhill Links replica — 3 courses: Day 1 Kingsbarns, Day 2 Carnoustie Championship, Day 3 St Andrews Old — the exact rota played by tour professionals during the Dunhill. Base at the Fairmont St Andrews.
Pickup at any Fife hotel. Clubhouse drop-off is at the door — no long car-park walk. On Dunhill week we advise 30 minutes' extra buffer for traffic on the A917 coastal road.
Is Kingsbarns as hard as the Old Course? Different challenge — more elevation change and more visible trouble. In wind it is a serious examination; in calm it plays fairly.
Can we combine Kingsbarns and the Old in one day? Yes if you can secure the tee times. We handle the mid-day transfer, lunch en route and clubs.
Best time of year? May–June and September are ideal — quieter than Dunhill week and the coastal light is at its best.
