Gleneagles Golf Transfers & Chauffeur Tours
Gleneagles is the only Scottish resort that gives you three championship courses on a single estate, framed by the Ochils and the Grampians. The King's (James Braid, 1919) is heathland golf at its purest, the Queen's is shorter and more strategic, and the PGA Centenary (Jack Nicklaus, hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup) is the modern test. Add falconry, the equestrian school and Andrew Fairlie's two-Michelin-star restaurant and this is a resort in the fullest sense.
Opened by the Caledonian Railway in 1924, Gleneagles remains one of the last of the great British railway hotels. The Ryder Cup came here in 2014 (Europe defeated the USA 16½–11½), the Solheim Cup in 2019, and the G8 summit in 2005 — a reminder that this is as much a state occasion venue as a golf resort.
Return chauffeur transfers to Gleneagles (King's, Queen's & PGA Centenary) start from £400 return from Dundee and from £400 return from Edinburgh Airport (EDI), with clubs, luggage and waiting time included.
Drive times: Edinburgh Airport — 1 hr (45 mi); Glasgow Airport — 1 hr (42 mi); Dundee city centre — 50 min (40 mi); St Andrews — 1 hr (45 mi); Gleneagles railway station — 5 min (1 mi).
Recommended vehicle: Rolls-Royce Ghost or Bentley Mulsanne for the arrival. Gleneagles' front entrance is theatrical — the drive through the estate, the doorman, the porters. Arrival by Ghost is treated as an occasion here, and the concierge team knows the fleet. For a group of four with clubs, the Vito is the practical answer.
Suggested 3-course itinerary — Perthshire: Day 1 King's Course. Day 2 PGA Centenary (from the tips if you must). Day 3 Loch Lomond, 1 hr 20 min west — a very different parkland test through birch and oak on the loch's east shore. Overnight at Gleneagles both nights, dinner at Andrew Fairlie.
Pickup at Gleneagles' own railway station is popular for guests arriving by train from London Euston. We stage at the main entrance, coordinate with the porters for clubs and luggage, and can run into Auchterarder or Crieff for a change of scene on non-golf evenings.
Can you meet the Caledonian Sleeper at Gleneagles station? Yes — early-morning meets are a specialism. The station is a 5-minute run to the hotel front door.
Which course should first-time visitors play? The King's, without question. The PGA Centenary is the modern spectacle, but the King's is what Gleneagles is.
Do you cover multi-day tours from Gleneagles? Yes — Gleneagles is a common base for Fife (Kingsbarns, Old Course) and the west (Loch Lomond, Turnberry).
